Well it’s that time of year again, lots of dancers hoping to qualify for the Nationwide Medalist of the Year Comp later in April 2017, tanned up, stressed out but rearing to go. This is always one of my favourite competitions, mainly because I don’t have to dance in it! Maybe one year, although to be honest I’m not sure who could partner me, vertically challenged as I am!
This year we had a number of new faces from Diamonds dance centre, mostly mum’s who had diligently watched their children train and thought it was about time to have their turn, plus the odd returning face returning to the competition floor after taking time out for parental duties. Overall there didn’t seem to be as many competitors this year, although Diamonds sent a strong contingent as always.
This is the second year my wife, Wendy competed and she made both finals, My daughter Cerys also made a final and Toby being a 6 year old boy merely had to turn up to walk into his finals!
There was some incredible dancing to watch across the age ranges but my favourite is always the juveniles and young adults. The dual benefits of both years of training coupled with the athletic performance of youth can be a magical combination. Its just such a shame as experience waxes athleticism must wane!
Below are some of my favourites, the full gallery of 920 pictures can be found here. As always, please feel free to download and use for personal use, printing & social media. As always I’m just taking these pictures for fun, see Sophies Photography for the official pictures and please do support her by purchasing images from her you like rather than posting watermarked images on Facebook!
